Attractions Of Udaipur

Lake Palace

Sail through the romantic Pichola lake and reach the incredibly beautiful Lake Palace where royalty, beauty and romantic aura await you. It seems as if the white marble palace is floating over the azure waters of Lake Pichola. It was built 250 years ago by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1743. Sprawling over an area of 1.5 hectare, the palace was built to serve as a summer palace for the Maharaja and his family. Today the palace is a renowned heritage hotel serving royalty to its guests. It offers luxury rooms, royal suites and palace rooms, each offering a royal stay to the guests.

Lake Pichola

Lake Pichola is a beautiful lake offering a pleasant experience to the visitors. It is an artificial lake constructed by Maharana Udai Singh II after he founded the city of Udaipur. Offering wonderful views, the lake is 4 km long and 3 km wide. The Jag Niwas island on the lake is a great place to enjoy the sights of the lake. The boat cruise on the lake is very entertaining. On the eastern banks of the lake lies the arresting City Palace.

Jag Mandir

Jag Mandir is a bewitching palace located on Lake Pichola. The palace was built by Rana Karan Singh in 1626 to provide refuge to Emperor Shah Jahan when he was planning to revolt against his own father, Emperor Jehangir. The intricate carvings of the palace is one of its attractions. The row of carved elephants, grey and blue stone carved chhatri are simply marvellous.

The City Palace

Located on the eastern banks of Lake Pichola, the City Palace is considered as the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. This architectural marvel was built by Maharaja Udai Singh. The breathtaking architecture of the palace is the outcome of the fusion of the Medieval, European and Chinese architecture. The amazingly carved towers, domes and arches of the palace leave the onlookers spell bound. The City Palace is a collection of eleven stunning palaces encompassing beautiful courtyards, pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms and hanging gardens.

Fateh Sagar Lake

Located to the north of Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake is a beautiful lake built by Maharana Fateh Singh in 1678. The lake has a wonderful Nehru Island and an islet containing a solar observatory.

Sahelion Ki Bari

Sahelion Ki Bari is an arresting garden with pools, flowerbeds, lawns, fountains and lush green trees, offering a pleasant environment. The garden was built by Maharana Sangram Singh in the 18th century for his beloved queen and her friends.
